Please visit the Sioux Falls Animal Control Annex to identify and claim.

Sioux Falls city ordinances allow a set number of days for owners to reclaim lost pets.

Days to Reclaim:

3 Days - Animals without a city license, identifying tags or a microchip
5 Days - Animals with a city license, identifying tags or a microchip

During this time, SFAHS cares for stray animals, but they legally remain property of the county where they were found.

If an owner does not come forward by the end of the waiting period, ownership transfers to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society Adoption Center.

This building is located in the same parking lot as the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society Adoption Center.

Remember, it's your responsibility to identify and claim your pet if they go missing.
The Animal Control Annex sees hundreds of animals weekly, you are the best person to recognize your pet.

Fees are set by local government and not SFAHS.
You will never have to pay for your animal via link, text or over the phone. Beware of Scams.
