Report Animal Cruelty


The following information must be provided to officers to successfully build a case for seizure and/or prosecution. 

  • Exact address and contact information of the animals' owner, if known
  • A  specific account of the facts and circumstances involved. 
  • Your name and daytime phone number. We may need to follow up with you to get more specific details. (Citizen reports of abuse and neglect are kept confidential)

Any enforcement needed within the Sioux Falls city limits are handled by Sioux Falls City Animal Control.

  • Domestic animals lacking necessary food, water or shelter 
  • Physical abuse, chronic neglect, or denial of medical attention.
  • Illegal shooting  or torture of any domestic animal.
  • Animals left in unattended vehicles under harmful conditions
  • Animal facilities that are not meeting the legal minimum standards of care.
  • Enforcement of animal ordinances
  • Assist local law enforcement with animal-related issues.
