I've learned something lately-
Good things don't have to be temporary.
At least, I hope they don't.
Because so far, my life has felt like one long string of temporary.
A little while of kindness.
A little while of fun.
A little while of almost belonging.
At the shelter, I had moments of joy-playgroups with other dogs, rescue recess outings, and people who truly tried. And for brief stretches of time, I caught glimpses of the life I was meant to have. But I never knew how long the good would last. So I threw my whole heart into it. I played hard. I wagged harder. I lived like every moment counted-because it did.
Still, I needed more.
Then came my foster.
This has been my favorite kind of temporary.
I have a dog friend to play with, a person who loves me, and space to just be happy.
Life is starting to feel... right.
But this isn't forever either.
And that's the hardest part to say out loud. Because now that I finally feel like myself-relaxed, goofy, and content-I don't want to lose it again.
A foster is someone who opens their home to help an animal in need, and mine has done just that. But I still need something more.
I need someone who looks at me and says:
"You don't have to go anywhere else. You're home."
Not for a little while.
But for good.
