Can I become a foster volunteer if I have pets of my own?Yes
Please keep in mind that foster animals should be kept in a separate room to avoid exposing your pet to health risks. There is always a health risk when bringing new fosters into your home. However, the risk is minimal if your pets are vaccinated and in good health.
The Sioux Falls Area Humane Society is prohibited from giving veterinary care to privately owned animals. If your animal becomes sick or injured due to interactions with a SFAHS foster animal, you will be responsible for all medical care required, as agreed upon in your foster contract.
