Transport Drivers

Every ride matters. Our Shelter Transport Drivers are the vital link between safety and a new start for animals in need—your time behind the wheel changes lives.

What do transport drivers do?

Transport drivers help move animals safely between locations. This could include:
  • Picking up animals from other shelters or transfer partners
  • Driving dogs or cats to adoption events
  • Assisting with long-distance transport legs

Most transports are regional and can take a few hours, depending on the route.

What kind of vehicle do I need?

You don’t need a fancy setup—just a safe, reliable vehicle with enough room for crates or carriers. We provide all the necessary supplies, including:
  • Travel crates or carriers
  • Blankets or towels
  • Leashes and harnesses
  • Detailed instructions
  • Emergency contacts

Do I need training?

We’ll walk you through everything you need to know. Our team will provide:
  • Guidelines for safe and stress-free animal transport
  • Support on handling shy, scared, or excited animals
  • Step-by-step instructions for each transport trip
  • Access to our team in case of questions or emergencies

If you're already great with animals and love a road trip, you're off to a great start.

Why does this matter?

Some animals need urgent transport to get the care they deserve. Others are heading toward the next chapter of their lives. Every mile brings them closer to home. Your time on the road helps relieve shelter stress, open up space for new arrivals, and provide critical support to our foster and rescue networks.
